One of the things I see a LOT in classes is the challenge of finding the right color and being unhappy with the result. Knowing the colors that are in your pans or tubes, understanding how to mix what you have to achieve a desired hue and value is essential to success. We will learn the essentials of colors, the color wheel, values, color harmony, and mixing. We'll paint a color wheel with graduated values with your own colors so that you have a reference for your own paints. We will learn to paint some color charts to understand how you can find your own colors.
Bring with you: watercolors, specifically a yellow, red, and blue for the color wheel, two water containers, pencil and eraser, several sheets watercolor paper your choice, size should be at least 8 square to accommodate the circle. The brushes I will be using are No. 6, 8 rounds.
You will walk down a grassy hill in the back yard to get to the cabin, and then back up when you go, so wear appropriate shoes.

Mikayla was an amazing instructor. She is very knowledgeable, passionate, and exudes enthusiasm for all she teaches us. My score reflects the timing of the class. It was too early as spring isn't even close to arriving. This macro class needed to be in late March/early April to be beneficial.

Went with a friend hoping Wilsons Creek would provide some small fall or rapid opportunities for photographing after the rain or some good fog that morning. Not enough rain in the mountains nor any fog near the creek! LOL. So, we settled for some different compositions of interest. Tried a few abstracts and I was extremely proud of this one.

On Thursday evening I realized Friday would dawn clear and cool, with the last sliver of moon rising less than an hour before the sun. I looked up the alignment in Winston-Salem using PhotoPills, set up around 5:30 AM with a Sigma 60-600mm lens on a Sony a7RV, and waited for the moon to emerge from behind the former Wachovia Tower at 100 North Main Street. To keep the brightening sky from washing out I shot 1/200 sec. at f/5.6, ISO 1600. I brightened the foreground slightly in Lightroom and was
